Hale Community Ministries

Teams are needed throughout the summer to lead an on-site Day Camp in the mornings and an off-site Backyard Bible Club in afternoons and/or evenings. Day Camp will consist of Bible Study (curriculum provided), games, crafts, music, sports, social ministries, clown and puppet ministries. May feed children lunch. Backyard Bible Club may be in partnership with a local church.

Volunteers are also needed to provide home improvements for elderly, disabled and single parent families who live below the poverty level (remodeling, roofing, painting, masonry, electrical and plumbing).

Teams will need to provide their own food, as well as craft and recreational supplies. Teams are needed for 1 week periods beginning June 10, 2002 and ending August 30, 2002.

Teams may be housed in a Family Life Center or fellowship hall of a local church, local schools, or other available sites. Placement is based on size of team, location of assigned ministry, and needs of the group.

Positions for North American Mission Board semester missionaries and sojourners are available at Hale Community Ministries. Lodging, food and a small stipend are included. Mission teams and local volunteers are needed to perform light construction/repair work for the elderly and needy, and for small churches in the area, throughout the year.

Volunteers from local churches are needed to do the following:

Pray
answer the telephone
schedule appointments
distribute food to clients who have made appointments
provide spiritual counseling and support to clients
fill food bags for distribution
perform light maintenance work on HCM buildings
perform yard maintenance/landscaping
teach or assist with Big A Clubs (Bible story, games, crafts, music, etc.)
drive a van (or ride with a driver) to pick up children for Big A Clubs
serve as chaperones on Big A trips
serve as "tour guides" for summer mission teams (help them locate their ministry site, a grocery store or Wal-mart; recommend good restaurants or things to do during their off time, etc.)
provide home improvements for elderly, disabled and single parent families who live below the poverty level (remodeling, roofing, painting, masonry, electrical and plumbing)

Local churches can be of assistance by:

hosting a summer mission team (providing lodging, etc.)
providing financially
providing prayer support

Volunteers are available to speak to your church about the ways the Lord in working at HCM and the specific areas of ministry where you can serve.

HCM typically serves those who are struggling financially. Monetary contributions by both churches and individuals enable us to assist with the payment of utility and medical bills for those in need. Contributions may be mailed to Becky Brumitt, HCM, 1301 Arney St., Elizabethton, TN 37643.
